There was a heavy frost on Tuesday February 6th, it was forecast to be just as cold on Wednesday, and I had the day off work.  I was out by 6.30am.  I parked at the Robin Hood to take some frosty pics in Chatsworth Park. The lighting before sunrise is strange, no shadows and very flat, the heavy frost bleaches the colours.  The ice on the aqueduct waterfall was amazing.  By 9.00am my battery was flat.  I made my way back, the camera was still on the tripod, I missed my footing and fell.  The camera hit a rock and the lens was ruined and maybe the body, the lens may have survived if the lens hood had been attached.  When I got up my pride was hurt, nearly as much as my leg.  I can imagine Peter Kay making a comic sketch from my embarrassment, I looked around to make sure no one had seen me, even though I hadn't seen any one for two and a half hours.  The camera is covered by my household insurance, but I have to pay a £50 excess.  The most frustrating thing though, is being without my camera.  The best shots are always the ones you see when you haven't got your camera.  What a wally!  But it was worth it.

PS  The insurance is paying to repair the body and replace the lens.  I should be clicking away again in a couple of weeks.
